Back cover:
ABBA, the biggest name of the 70's, had a remarkable run of chart
topping hits from 1974 to 1981 which has ensured them a place in pop
history. The group's uncanny ability to create melodic masterpieces has
only been battered by the Beatles, while their early mastery of the
promotional video form was unequalled during their years as the most
popular group in the world. The ABBA video biography collects together
the video clips which brought Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid from
local celebrity to international stardom, while also reflecting the
destructive effect which public stardom can exert on private
relationships. ABBA remain the only fact from a country where English
is not the native tongue to have dominated the world of popular music,
and their appeal to all age groups of every nationality is all the more
unique because of the language barrier. While it seems unlikely that
another non-English speaking act will ever approach ABBA's achievements,
the ABBA video biography preserves their magic for future generations.

Perhaps mainly due to English being the only universal language of pop
and rock, the vast majority of classic modern popular music has been
made by either British or American acts, yet one of the most enduring
and successful groups of all time came from Sweden, where English is a
foreign language. We're talking about ABBA, of course, who dominated
charts for around eight years, achieving Nº1 hit singles all over the
world (including 9 in UK), and whose heritage remains very familiar
despite the passing of time. "ABBA-esque", the EP by Erasure of ABBA
cover versions which topped the UK chart in 1992, and the very popular
"copy" groups with acts based on ABBA's music, are just some indication
of continuing influence of the quartet who where second only to Volvo as
Sweden's biggest export earners for several years, and who remain
revered and legendary as one of the most accomplished pop/rock groups
ever.

From their first moment of international triumph, as Sweden's entry in
the 1974 Eurovision song contest, everything ABBA have touched has
turned to gold.
"Abba: the movie", follows the supergroup on a sensational tour of
Australia and captures all the magic and excitement of one of the
world's most entertaining live acts; It features an unforgettable
selection from the many songs that have taken the four to the top of the
charts around the world.
The movie also provides an interesting and thoroughly entertaining
insight into their lives off-stage, punctuated by the amusing exploits
of Ashley, a disc-jockey who follows ABBA across the continent. Not
quite sure who or what ABBA are, Ashley is nevertheless determinated to
get his interview.

This unique programme traces the history and provides a rare insight
into a group that became one of the most successful of all time.
Info:
This is one of the most interesting videos about ABBA. All the members
are explaining things of their carrier from the very first beginning.
They are speaking about themselves in a very touching way. Also very
interesting because you can find on it
Waterloo
(live at the European Song Contest 1974 in Brigthon),
Dancing Queen
(ABBA playing for the wedding of the King and Queen of Sweden),
some images of ABBA singing
Chiquitita
at the Unicef concert 1977, some images of ABBA singing
Money, Money, Money
dressed in costumes of the 30's...
The copyright is 1984 for Cable connections.
And I think it's surely one of the lastest interview of all ABBA's members
together (Björn is bearded! And he speaks about Chess -
contact with Tim Rice)...
